Niyo receives strategic investment from the Sumerian Foundation to empower one million people through its learn-to-earn platform

Niyo, a pioneer in the Edtech sector, is thrilled to announce a significant investment from the Sumerian Foundation. This investment is set to aid the development of their soon-to-launch learning platform and to take its offering nationwide. Niyo’s goal is to upskill one million people, especially women with digital skills and get 90% of them into a job or self-employment. While the investment amount is undisclosed, its impact on achieving gender equality in tech is expected to be substantial.

Niyo aims to revolutionise the Edtech industry by providing customised, immersive, and effective learning experiences. Its ultimate goal is to challenge and transform diversity within the tech industry, by increasing the number of women in tech from 1.8% to 50% by 2030. The learn-to-earn platform utilises the power of AI technology not only to educate but also to motivate and track the progress of its users, guaranteeing that they don't just learn but also become pioneers and disruptors in the tech industry.

Niyo, through its bootcamps, has successfully upskilled over 700 women and established over 100 partnerships in the Midlands region. Between 2022 till date, the team has successfully conducted 14 cohorts in various areas such as Data Analytics with Project Management, Marketing for Digital Entrepreneurship, and much more, with over 60 positive outcomes. With this achievement, the company is now looking to reshape the UK tech landscape, through the Niyo Labs Platform, and this partnership with Sumerian Foundation is a big step towards this goal.

Sumerian Foundation has a rich history of investing in initiatives that create long-lasting, positive change around the globe. This investment into Niyo Labs aligns with its mission to support projects that offer sustainable and equitable solutions to societal challenges. It strongly honours Niyo’s approach to transforming education through technology.

Niyo Labs is set to launch in October at Niyo Fest, a tech meets culture festival curated by Niyo in Birmingham. The festival is expected to bring together over 10,000 thought leaders, industry experts and tech enthusiasts.

“At the core of our mission is empowering, educating and enabling women, especially black women to be enabled to thrive in tech and sustain a thriving career from zero to C-Suite. Since we started operations, we have upskilled over 800 black women predominantly from the west midlands to get into tech, now we want to scale our offering nationally and to launch our edtech platform to 10,000 users in the next year - setting us right for our goal of upskilling 1 million women globally. This would have been only possible with the help of Sumerian Foundation” - Oyinkansola Adebayo - CEO & Founder Niyo Group

“We were impressed by Niyo's track record of supporting black women to break into the tech industry and keen to establish an investment partnership to catalyse their impact. We are excited to work alongside the team as they launch the Niyo Labs Platform and pursue their mission to upskill one million people” - Isabelle Irani - Partner Sumerian Foundation

This investment from the Sumerian Foundation not only provides the financial backing needed to scale Niyo’s initiatives. It's a belief in the power of education to transform lives and industries. It underscores a shared vision for a world where women have equal opportunities to thrive in the digital age.
